We already teach Non-Verbal reasoning in our year 4 and 5 lessons so don’t panic!

Medway Test papers (extract from council website)

The Medway Test is made up of 3 papers:

  • writing
  • mathematics and non-verbal reasoning
  • verbal skills

These tests are written specifically for Medway Council.

The test provider is GL Assessment. Any test materials found online or in retailers, other than on the GL website are not official and are not supported or endorsed by GL or Medway Council.

The tests are designed to assess and select 26% of Medway children in the year group to go to a grammar school.

This 26% figure is subject to the Regional Schools Commissioner approving Chatham Grammar, Fort Pitt Grammar School and Holcombe Grammar School becoming co-educational (mixed gender) for September 2024 entry. If this change is not approved by September 2023, the test will assess and select 23% of the Medway children in the year group as grammar.

Up to another 2% can be selected through the review process.

If a child is found to be cheating, not following instructions or misbehaving at any time during a test day, they will be disqualified from the test and their parents will be contacted to collect them.

You cannot view test papers, we’ll not give you the original, or a copy of your child’s test papers. Comments written by the examiner, minutes and examinations appeals panel do not exist for the Medway Test.

Examination scripts and results other than the final result are exempt from the GDPR Article 15 Right of Access to personal data as stated in Schedule 2, Part 4, s25 of the Data Protection Act 2018. The data is exempt under the quoted legislation because the information is personal data which consists of information for the purposes of determining the results of an exam.

Remark, resit or appeals.

There is no resit and there is no remarking of any Medway Test papers. There is no appeal process for a remark of any paper.
